The Federal Chancellor’s visit marked a highlight of the Youth7 Summit. The Youth7 Communiqué, which contains the policy recommendations of the global youth, was handed over to him by our Co-Chairs Carolina Claus and Benjamin Günther so they could be incorporated into the G7 negotiations.
In an inspiring speech, Federal Chancellor Scholz emphasised the necessity of global cooperation in challenging times, making particular mention of a meaningful integration of the Global South. He expressed his gratitude to the delegations of the partner countries Indonesia, Senegal and South Africa for representing their regions and thereby enriching the G7 youth policy dialogue. The Delegates representing each track had an opportunity to pose questions to Federal Chancellor Scholz, mentioning, among other topics, Germany’s initiative to form an International Climate Club and the role of mental health in education and health systems.
Following this informative exchange, the Summit welcomed Dr Garcia Paramitha, the Chair of Youth20 2022 Indonesia, for a keynote speech. The programme closed with some final remarks on the successful Youth7 Summit 2022 by the Co-Chairs.
The fruitful cooperation between our Co-Chairs, Track Sherpas and Delegates of the G7 states, the EU and the four partner countries both virtually and in person during the Y7 Summit led to a strong Youth7 Communiqué that ensures the voices of global youth are heard in all negotiations of the G7.
